Biographical Information:
A native Clevelander, Dr. Messina graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. He was first in his graduating class from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1987. After a general practice residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, he established his practice first in Berea, and then in Fairview Park, Ohio. His distinguished academic career has brought him many honors, including membership in the dental honor fraternity Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Messina currently serves as the Editor of the Ohio Dental Association. As a Consumer Advisor for the American Dental Association, he is known as a respected authority in the profession, and has been quoted in national publications, including the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, New York Times, Prevention Magazine, Men’s Health, and Reader’s Digest, to name just a few. He lectures nationally to dental students and graduate dentists on leadership and staff management. Dr. Messina’s research and professional publications have centered on dental ethics, highlighting ethical decision-making processes in providing patient care. His advanced training at the prestigious Pankey Institute and in other disciplines has given Dr. Messina and his team the range of abilities to meet the individual needs of each patient. From a simple restoration to a complete smile makeover, he has the talent and training to see the whole range of possibilities and deliver the care you deserve. He and his wife, Denise, a dental hygienist, are involved members of the Cleveland community. They have three children, Caitlin, Mike, and Brian. Dr. Messina is an avid reader and history buff, as well as an amateur photographer and baseball coach.
