Dr.  Ann Banes completed her undergraduate BS at the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University in 1972.  She received her training and doctorate in dentistry from the Virginia Commonwealth University school of Dentistry in 1977.  Dr. Banes has served on the teaching faculty of the dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr Banes has advanced training in areas of Aesthetic, Restorative, Implant and Sedation dentistry.  In addition to hundreds of hours of additional post-graduate study, Dr Banes has trained at the highly regarded Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, The Pankey Institute and the Center for Cosmetic Excellence.

Experience:

1987-present: Dr. Banes has maintained a private comprehensive dental practice in Durham/Chapel Hill area of NC.  After over 20 years of practice in Durham, she diagnoses all forms of dental and occlusal disease.  Her focus in aesthetic and fine restorative dental reconstruction is based on a comprehensive health-centered dental model.  She is recognized as an excellent clinician with a reputation for integrity and high patient satisfaction.  This is also demonstrated by the testimony and commitment of patients who travel from other areas of the country to have their dental work done by Dr. Banes.

Her former office was recognized for its detailed attention to patient comfort, technology, ergonomics and aesthetic design by Total Health Environment of Austin, Texas and was named their office of the month in September, 2000.

1978-1986:  Dr. Banes was a dental associate of Claude D. Greeson DDS, PA in Burlington, NC.  While there she gained over 12,000 patient hours of practical experience in all phases of general dentistry including endodontia and oral surgery.

1977-1978:  Dr. Banes served on the teaching faculty at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry.  There she served in the department of restorative dentistry teaching and supervising student clinics and practicing in the faculty practice.
