Biographical Information:
Dr. James Lockwood graduated from The University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1987. He has held a teaching position as Visiting Faculty at The Pankey Institute since 1999. Dr. Lockwood is married to his dental school sweetheart, Dr. Adele Gray. Dr. Lockwood is affiliated with various national and state dental associations, including the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Other professional activities include teaching and mentoring other dentists, as well as teaching dental assistants and hygienists in the Grand Rapids area.

"Our goal is to create an environment in which our patients experience the highest level of caring and thoroughness available in the healing arts. To achieve this goal we create a lifetime treatment plan based on a comprehensive examination and an understanding of our patient's unique circumstances and desires. We value communicating with our patients. Long-term goals are discussed, and a means to acheive them within one's budget is established. Our practice emphasizes restorative, cosmetic, occlusal, and periodontal services. We educate our patients that periodontal health is the foundation of all dentistry, around which everything else we do in the practice of our profession revolves. Overall, our mission is simply to help our patients become healthier. Our greatest asset is our highly trained and devoted team. It is a great privilege to develop talents in others, and I am very proud of our team. I enjoy dentistry because it is a wonderful blend of art and science, allowing me to be creative while serving people. The greatest lesson I have learned from my patients is the value of listening. My interests other than dentistry include fly fishing, good coffee, books, and traveling with my dear wife."
