Biographical Information:
Peter H. Fay, DMD, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine in 1981. He then completed a one-year general practice residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, followed by a two-year specialty residency at the University of Texas and VA Hospital in Houston. Dr. Fay is one of only two dentists on Maui that have specialty certification in Prosthodontics - the dental specialty of restoring missing, broken, and worn teeth, and treating jaw joint and bite problems. Besides being a Teaching Assistant at the Pankey Institute For Advanced Dental Education – the world’s premier post graduate dental education facility -he is also an Instructor with the Growth Into Greatness Institute – a dental practice management organization. Our Hygienist, Norine Kalaiwaa, RDH, graduated from the University of Hawaii’s Dental Hygiene School in 1980. She spent the next eight years working in a Honolulu periodontal dental practice as a surgical assistant and hygienist. Norine has been our practice’s hygienist since she returned home to Maui in 1988. Our financial and clinical assistants, Lisha Martelles, Dolly Fontanilla, and Heather Gomes have been with our practice for a combined total of over forty years. Lisha has been our business manager since 1991 and is in charge of all the non-clinical areas of our practice. Dolly has been Dr. Fay’s chairside assistant since 1986 and is also our in-house lab technician creating many of the gold, porcelain, and cosmetic restorations we make. Heather has been in charge of our hygiene department since 1994. She also works chairside with Dr. Fay, chairside with Norine, and at the front desk with Lisha. They alone have more experience in all aspects of the specialty treatment our office provides than any other dental office in Hawaii. Just as each patient has unique desires and expectations for their dental health, each dental practice has unique ways of operating and helping patients with their dental needs. No one dental practice can be all things to all patients. To boil the essence of what our specialty practice does down to just four words, We Fix Dental Disasters. The majority of the patients who come to our practice are referred by other dentists – both general dentists and other dental specialists. They are referred to us because the patient has come to understand that they have serious dental problems and because they have decided that now is the time to take care of them. We welcome anyone looking to achieve excellent dental health provided in a private, one-on-one, relationship based dental practice.
