Biographical Information:
A native of Sacramento, California, Dr. Pottorf received a Bachelors of Arts in Humanities in 1971, Teaching Credentials K - 9 in 1973 and a Master of Arts in Humanities in 1978 from California State University, Sacramento.  He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1984. Dr. Pottorf supported his family by working for a cement contracting company while finishing his undergraduate studies.  He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1966 to 1968.
 
Dr. Pottorf has served as President of the West Georgia Dental Study Club, Chairman of the Dental Health Committee for the Northwestern District Dental Society and serves on the Advisory Board of the National Association of Seventh Day Adventist Dentists. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association and the Peachtree Summit Dental Study Club.  Dr. Pottorf is on the Advisory Board for the Hygiene School at West Central Technical College, a Board Member of the Carroll County Sheriff Citizen Committee and a member of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club.
 
While practicing dentistry for over 20 years in Carrollton, Dr. Pottorf has attended numerous courses in advanced dental restorative procedures and implant restoration.  He is an alumnus of the L.D. Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education, where he has completed 300 hours of education.

Dr. Pottorf is married to Peggy, his wife of 37 years. They have two adult sons, William II “BJ” and Shawn, who both have PhD’s in Pharmacology and Physics, respectively.  Dr. Pottorf enjoys playing competition racquetball, recreational boating and traveling.
