Even before the Institute was formed, Dr. Hand was a student of Dr. Pankey. By that time he had completed all of the Philosophy of Dentistry and Rehabilitation courses taught by Dr. Pankey and participated in the founding of the Institute. He then com-pleted the full continuum and has served as a trustee, a director, and president of the International Alumni Association of the L.D. Pankey Institute.

Dr. Hand is a lifelong resident of Florida and attended the University of Florida and Emory University School of Dentistry. He has been awarded fellowships in the American College of Dentistry, The International College of Dentistry, The Academy of Dentistry International, The Pierre Fouchard Academy, and is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Great Britain.

He has contributed to two textbooks on the subject of diagnosis and treatment of facial pain and temporomandibular dysfunction and presented papers to physicians and dentists at universities throughout the United States and Europe as well as national and local dental societies. Dr. Hand has done clinical research studies with the University of Florida and clinical implant studies for the Johnson and Johnson Co.

Having served as the President of the Dental Society of Greater Orlando, he is also a member of American Dental Association, The American Prosthodontic Society (sponsored by Dr. Pankey), the American Equilibration Society, The Academy of Ossiointergration and the Florida Academy of Practice administration. Dr. Hand has also served on the Staff of Orlando Regional, Winter Park and Florida Hospitals. He was chairman of TMJ Facial Pain Center Winter Park Memorial Hospital. He has been selected among Best Dentists in America 2004,05,06 and Best Dentists, Orlando Magazine 2004,05,06. and served as the team dentist for United States World Cup Soccer Team. Dedicated members of his staff have made Dr. Hand’s practice their career, with length of service from 20 t0 33 years.

Tom lives in Winter Park, a beautiful city in the greater Orlando area, with his wife Theresa. They have four children and four grandchildren. He enjoys hunting and fishing and civic involvement, having acted as a trustee of the Winter Park Library and served on several city review boards. He has continuing enthusiasm to share with his patients the knowledge and skill he has acquired in cosmetic and complex implant and restora-tive dental care. His office is located just off Park Avenue in Winter Park.
