Dr. Huttner received his B.A. and Doctor of Dental Surgery Degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and then completed a General Practice Internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Huttner has been in private practice since 1975, providing restorative dental care for patients of all ages, concentrating on esthetic, implant and periodontal treatment designed to enhance long-term dental health.

A Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry since 1980, Dr. Huttner is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of  Surgery (Dental) in the Yale School of Medicine, and teaches occlusion to the dental residents at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Dr. Huttner was recently selected as a Practitioner-Investigator for the PEARL (Practitioners Engaged in Applied Research and Learning) Network,  a designated practice based research network under a 7 year grant from the NIH (National Institute Of Health).  There are about 100 offices in the Northeastern U. S. that are engaged is this practiced based research network to help determine what treatments work best.
