Dr Barnes, born in Mobile, received his B.S degree in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.  After serving as a combat arms officer on active duty he returning to the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine Degree along with the Senior Oral Medicine Award.  He began private practice in Cullman and remained active in the Alabama Army National Guard as Detachment Commander of the 109^th Evac. Hospital in Huntsville.

He has served as past President of the Cullman Dental Society and is currently serving as Vice President of the Practicing Dentists of Alabama working to improve dental health through legislation for Alabama Citizens.  Around the world Dr. Barnes has been active in mission projects in the Bahamas, Panama, Russia, Uganda and India.

Dr Barnes gets great satisfaction out of changing people’s lives by giving them a pleasant dental experience and using his TMJ, orthodontic and Pankey training to deliver a functional occlusion that is compatible with a customized smile design.
